Shanghai students and Yuan Yuan Tan visit City Ballet School

    City Ballet School and international superstar Yuan Yuan Tan, principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet, have collaborated to welcome students ages 6-10 from Shanghai, China, to our studios.         

    The Shanghai students will observe our own dancers Saturday, July 9th, and take a master class taught by Marina Alexandrova (9:30am - 11am) Sunday, July 10th. The students will do a small performance after the Sunday class (11am-12pm), both to which we welcome all to observe.  Following the performance, Ms. Tan will sign autographs for anyone in attendance.

    Admission will be limited and granted on a first-come-first-served basis. Join us by listing your name on the sign up sheet, or e-mail us at hello@cityballetschool.org !

City Ballet's alumna Nastia Alexandrova promoted to apprentice with ABT!

In January 2016, pre-professional student, Nastia Alexandrova, was accepted by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie into the American Ballet Theatre studio company in New York. After a few short months, Nastia was promoted to apprentice with the company in May 2016. Congratulations, Nastia! We are very proud of you and all your accomplishments.

City Ballet student Rio Anderson featured in an episode of Rituals.

Pre-Professional Student Rio Anderson was recently featured on an episode of Rituals (Discovery Digital Network). 

17 year old Rio Anderson has decided to pursue ballet full time, even turning down an opportunity to study at Harvard. She will soon be attending The Royal Ballet School in London, one of the most prestigious dance institutions in the world.

Congrats to Pre-Professional students Rio Anderson and Nastia Alexandrova and their successes at the New York Youth America Grand Prix Finals!

Pre-Professional students Rio Anderson and Nastia Alexandrova successfully competed in the Youth America Grand Prix Finals in New York April 12-15th. They performed beautifully in both contemporary and classical categories, and competed through to the Final Round and were two the Top 22 contestants to perform at the Lincoln Center in New York!

Rio was awarded the overall "Silver Medal" in the Senior Women’s category and offered an academic year-round scholarship to the Royal Ballet School in London, as well as a three-month trial apprenticeship with the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam.

We are incredibly proud of Nastia and Rio and congratulate them on their amazing success!
